朋友跟我回憶他的跑步生涯,語氣帶唏噓,處男作是毅行者,幾個同事柴娃娃報名,然後行出癮,一年又一年,成績愈做愈好,成為super毅行者,這時候朋友是單身。開始拍拖,時間分配感吃不消,練一課雙坳,天黑出門,天黑回家,女朋友面色變黑。結婚後,責任感撞罪疚感,責任感勝出。朋友仍有參加毅行者,但疏於練習,狀態不如前,最終不好意思拖慢隊友,索性退出。</div>

太太生了小孩,朋友生活不再一樣,100公里賽想也不敢想,開始轉玩馬拉松。在夾縫中抽出時間練跑,馬拉松對操練時間的要求,比毅行者好一些,畢竟衰就衰自己。第二個小孩出世,連馬拉松都冇得留低,朋友現在已經完全沒跑,身形變了一塊腹肌。朋友說,長跑是留給沒家庭負擔的人。</div>

這故事我聽過很多不同版本,某程度上我也是過來人,經歷過當中階段,平衡跑步與家庭不是易事,需要家庭配合,跑道上和家庭中,同樣需要team work。跑步和家庭共存,而且同樣精彩,肯定有可能,我認識不少有家室的長跑高手。綜合我的觀察和自己經驗,我有以下建議:</div>

一、從小開始。跑步是你生命一部分,不要迴避,把跑步介紹給家人,解釋跑步對你怎重要,帶家人出席比賽,讓家人感受比賽氣氛,以及你的付出。培養感覺,包括家人對跑步的感覺,是一項需要耐性的工程,慢慢來,家人始終會被你的真誠打動。當跑步成為家庭活動一部分,你的內疚感消失。</div>

二、早起。這方面我着數,練完回家,家人剛起床,彷彿沒發生事。我知道早起對很多人不容易,尤其是冬天,又黑又凍的感覺可以很淒涼,但鬼叫你咁多興趣和責任,些少付出是必然的。</div>

三、不放過每一分鐘。家人接受是一件事,面對現實卻是另一件事。即使家人支持,也不代表找到充足時間操練,因此長跑者須絞盡腦汁,不放過每一個機會。我識人跑步返工放工,他公司附近有gym,沖完涼上班。他解釋這方法最麻煩之處是,把衣服運來運去,很多時弄不清gym和公司有沒有上班衣服。又是這一句,鬼叫你鍾意咩!</div>

四、讓公司知道。我聽說有人食晏也跑,不過大部分人時間不夠。我認為公司應該知道你的興趣,因為跑步或者會影響工作,讓上司和同事知道,得到他們支持,是坦誠做法。最美好當然是引誘同事一齊跑,你會發現交情突飛猛進。</div>

五、不計較成績。跑步非常公道,付出幾多,便得到幾多。家庭責任是真實的,我們可以盡量想辦法,令兩者能共存,但影響或多或少一定有。這時候我們須作出妥協,PB可能是昨日的記憶,但此時仍然能夠開懷地跑,跑完之後回到一個溫暖家庭,便是你的跑步成就,管他幾多嚿腹肌。</div>

蔡爸把家珏從醫院接回家,他辭了廚師的工作,全職照顧家珏,短短幾年,醫療費用高達300多萬元,用盡了積蓄和保險賠償,一家三口一度靠綜援和傷殘津貼過活。無論怎難,蔡爸不肯放棄,沒怨天尤人,他相信只要相信,肯去做,家珏便有希望。蔡爸和家珏每日的練習,是蔡爸抱着家珏用自己的腳墊着家珏的腳向前行,像機械人步伐,每次可行10至20步。《明報》刊出的照片很震撼,家珏比蔡爸高出差不多一個頭,試想像,一個66歲的父親抱着140磅兒子,一步一步向前踏。願意讀畢這篇文章的讀者,雙眼不可能是乾的。</div>

我寫字枱有一幅鑲起的照片,是美國人Dick Hoyt推着輪椅在跑,輪椅上是他癱瘓的兒子,他們兩人多年來共同參加過超過1000場耐力比賽,包括100次馬拉松和70次三項鐵人賽事,全因兒子對父親說,他喜歡在跑的感覺,因為他不感到自己殘廢。父親對兒子不離不棄,發出來的一度力,不是一段醫護人員能理解。蔡爸說:「佢始終有一個信念,佢會行番;一點火,永遠不會熄,點淋都唔會熄。」</div>

跑步者記住一大堆數據,包括時間、長度、pacing、split time等,分析操練狀況,跑步成為跑步者的一個「項目」。科技真好,以前這些數據只屬於少數擁有專業教練的頂級運動員,今日三數千元一隻運動手錶,便能掌握源源不絕的數據。數據的好處是實在,跑步牽涉太多關於感覺的東西,客觀數據令跑步者心裏感踏實。但我留意到,有一項數據很少人記錄下來,我認為非常重要,是睡眠。</div>

跑步者不談睡眠,可能是因為睡眠太明顯,因此「老馮」不談。另一個不談睡眠的可能,是不想談,因為睡眠不足是所有城市人早已接受的通病。各位問吓身邊朋友,有幾多人能每日平均瞓8小時?我得出的答案是沒有,大部分人每日睡6至7小時,甚至更少,有些人答案是以每星期計算,因為周末瞓番夠本補數。我不是睡眠專家,但敢肯定睡眠質素不可能是以周末兩日「補」一周七日。跑步者撫心自問,跑得不好,很可能是前一晚或這一輪睡得不好。</div>

睡眠對跑步有影響,相信沒有人反對,跑步者不大談,只是不願談,以為所有人都是這樣的。壞消息是,答案是否定,不是所有跑步者都睡得不好。英國跑手Adharanand Finn深入虎穴,與肯雅冠軍級馬拉松跑手共同生活了一年,寫了《Running with the Kenyans》這本書,其中一項特別發現是,肯雅跑手睡得很多。幾多?各位坐穩,是14小時!職業跑手基本生活是練、食、瞓,其他人無得恨。</div>

跑步者不談睡眠,另一原因是我們慚愧。睡眠不算是不可告人的私隱,但我們都忽略睡眠,呼之則來,揮之則去,因此難以啟齒。我們每日拚搏工作,家庭事多籮籮,時間逼人,還在密麻麻時間表中加進跑步,可以犧牲的,通常是睡眠時間。更大鑊的是,跑步可能不是我們唯一的公餘興趣,24小時不夠分配,結果是越瞓越少。我們慚愧,因為睡眠不好是自己一手造成。</div>

有參加比賽的跑步者深明睡眠質素對跑步的影響,香港大部分長跑賽事起步時間是早上8至9時,跑手需要早點到達起點,加上交通時間,前一晚睡眠時間比平時少,談不上質素。渣打馬拉松早至6時起步,不少跑步者前一晚基本上沒睡。有些人逼自己晚上8時上床,但睡眠不是完全受控的事情,加上心情緊張,眼光光到天光不是例外。<br style="box-sizing: border-box;" />睡眠是一件非常私人的事,每個人都有自己一套,我不打算「分享」自己睡眠心得,因為我的一套或者只適用於自己。指點其他人睡眠,換來的是噓聲。</div>

<span style="font-family: "新細明體","serif"; mso-ascii-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: "Times New Roman";">二、兩日法則:如果身體有地方不舒服,休息兩日後仍未痊癒,多數代表有事,須正視。各位跑步者,休息兩日一定不會影響狀態,但休息兩日對受傷的幫助可以很大。即使是虛驚一場,乘機休息兩日也是一種享受。跑步對我最大啟發之一,是認識自己的身體。以前關於健康,我的態度跟很多人一樣,是人云亦云。跑步後,我須時刻面對一副實質在運作的機器,這樣做,有這樣效果,我即時看到,不是靠其他人告訴我。我很相信這條法則,第一日仍可以呃自己,以為跑吓跑吓便沒事;第二日是真相在大叫。認識身體的教訓是,尊重身體,不要跟身體鬥氣。</span><span lang="EN-US"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "新細明體","serif"; mso-ascii-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-hansi-font-family: "Times New Roman";">三、七年法則:跑步者可進步七年。換句話說,七年後跑步者進入不進步階段,不進步可以代表進入平穩,也可代表退步。很多人不接受這法則,認為有志者事竟成,靠自己力量可戰勝一切,但我認為這條法則內藏客觀科學。跑步者愛上跑步,頭一兩年在摸索和試新東西,第三年至五年是成熟期,已掌握技術,調節自己心情,成績愈做愈好,在這時期,跑步者對成績有所要求。有要求便有可能帶來喜悅或失望,跑了五年後,可能受傷,可能生活習慣改變,可能失去火紅決心。第六年和第七年難頂下去,口裏不喊退出,心裏感疲倦,勉強保持成績。「七年之癢」應該不是隨口噏,是有事實根據,跑步也不容易擺脫魔咒。</span><span lang="EN-US"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: 新細明體, serif;">有一日,在大帽山附近通山跑,走錯了路,走進嘉道理農場。實在慚愧,對嘉道理農場的認識近乎零,好像小學年代參觀過,又好像未去過,原來香港有這麼美麗的地方,特別是在清晨時分。錯有錯着,在農場內四處跑,佩服嘉道理兄弟對香港農業作出的貢獻,也多謝他們為香港創造這片寧靜的樂土。記得在山頂附近,石上刻上「靜」字,在這裏見到這個字,覺得跟環境非常配合。</span></div>
